Spiritual
Crisis in the Present Society :- Modern life
suffers from racialism in social life, sectional thinking in science,
nationalism in politics and fanaticism in religion. What is sorely needed today
is a new synoptic outlook that will combine the seriousness of the thinker with
the social virtues of man of action, breakdown the barriers of departmental
thinking and exclusiveness heal all discords and give a new spiritual direction
to the society.
Due to this scientific
experiments which is based on partial analysis we are considering human being,
partially. But the metaphysical reality of human being is something different
from his phenomenal reality. It is not the relative value of the naturalistic
investigation, but its claim to be the only method of investigation at our
disposal, that is questioned.
Infinity of
the Finite :- The
ideals of liberty, equality and fraternity have a deep spiritual meaning. The
freedom of man is the freedom of the self-development of divinity in man. The
equality of man implies the recognition of the same Godhead in all human beings
and the ideals of brotherhood is a unity of mind and feeling based upon the
inner spirituality of man. Freedom in the positive sense is to be utilized by
the freeman in the service of the ideals of world by renouncing the egoistic
and individualistic outlook.
It
is consciousness that forms the basis of all mutual response. Thus, if we can
assure ourselves that the element of consciousness, that is in me is the same
as that which is in others, there is found a link, an indissoluble bond between
I and others and stretching the analogy further, between man and animal,
between man and vegetable and between man and mineral : a bond which from its
very nature can not be severed. This, if left untrammeled by extraneous
impositions, consciousness would function alike in all centers, and no cost of
opposition would ever be possible. When once this principle is firmly grasped,
we would, in all our actions, be kept alert by the idea that the ultimate effect
of all that we do and feel, while impinging upon what we call our consciousness
has its bearing upon the same principle of consciousness which manifests itself
in others. We have, therefore, be careful of our thoughts and actions, bearing
as they do upon all the rest of the universe also.
That
it is the same consciousness functioning in all beings, is indicated by the
researches that are no being carried on, under the name of telepathy.
Telepathy is power of thought
transference from one mind to another directly and without the use of senses,
implies that mind is not to be identified merely with the brain function.
Similarly clairvoyant perception demonstrates the forcibility of direct access
to objects without the aid of sense channels. Both in telepathy and in clairvoyance which are cases of
extra-sensory perception we find the mind not obeying the laws of physics with
regard to space. In precognition another mode of extra-sensory perception it
crosses the barrier of time as well.
Phylobiologists
have discovered the unity of man, which will recognize the biological identity
of individual and phylum, and deal with the organism of man, not as a divisible
phenomenon, but as a dynamic whole.
Now
we find the physicists joining hands with metaphysicians over the chasm that is
becoming shorter day by day, and the advanced scientists of the present time,
adopting as their guiding motto the declaration of the philosophers. So we find
that both philosophers as well as scientists are agreed on this point that we
are not finite beings but also having infinite aspect of our reality, though
unrealized. The true self is not mere subject set over against an object. It is
the ground of both subject and object. There is one-to-one correspondence
between microcosm and macrocosm. The finite self as its own value as a moral
being, but at the same time it is a mode of the Infinite. Moral life is a
presupposes the freedom of the self to give up its egoism and attain
self-sovereignty.
Neurologists
also accept the this fact that there is a stage in the development of human
consciousness when man surpasses the cortical level. They call this stage as supra-cortical
consciousness.
We
find that all differences, even that appear to be absolutely necessary and
real, are entirely foreign to our nature as conscious being, primarily and
constitutionally we are one , not only all man and all animals but all,
whatever that exists: all is one without a second. This had led to us on the
belief in the brotherhood, not only of all man but of all beings, organic as
well as in-organic.
Synoptic View of all Religions :-
From the point of view of true philosophy of
religion, religion is one, and it is possible for the world to come an
understanding and establish a fraternity of faith as a first step towards the federation of peoples. If the founders of
all religions are understood in their mystic or personal aspects, the followers
of each religion may then know inductively the best of the other religions and
appreciate their common feature.
The fundamental concept of all religions is the
upliftment of human being. And the basic factor of human being is
consciousness. The nature of consciousness is all-pervasiveness. Then, their
arises a question that why any all-pervasive entity should be confined to any
cast, creed and nation. It is proved
through telepathy and clairvoyance that consciousness is all-pervasive. While
we are concerned with the physical existence
of human being, it is also made of five gross elements, which are having
cosmic existence. So, when it is the case that human being is both physically
and mentally a cosmic being, then why we should remain confined to an area or
sect or cast or creed, on the point of religion. Is there any difference
between the whole race of human being on the point of physique, consciousness,
mind etc. Then why should the differ the point of religion? Each and every
religion has a concept of Almighty, Omniscient, Omnipotent God. So a question
arises here that how it is possible that each and every religion has its
different Almighty, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, God, because
Omnipotent, Omnipresent, God can’t be many.
Secondly religion is concerned with the freedom of human
being, and real freedom lies in perfect arrangement of inter-dependence between
the individual and the universe. It is the noumenal reality of human being that
he is an universal being, so he can’t deny any part of existence, if you want
to become perfect or free. Perfection is universalization of consciousness and
for universalization there must be universal religion. Instead of being baffled
by differences in doctrines, we should pin down the essential and common
feature and take to any method of conquering the ego, which is the main target
of all spiritual disciplines. It is admitted that the ego the root cause of
un-peace and suffering. The ego, because of its self-gratifying nature develops
love for finite and transitory objects and consequently suffers. So the
solution lies in turning our back to the finite and transitory objects and
direct our love to what is infinite and eternal, that is God. We should try to
realize our cosmic existence, then only we will be able to leave this
self-centered approach of life.
Apart from self-gratification, the ego has another
feature and that is separativeness and particularity. So we should try to shake
off our particularity or exclusiveness and dive deeper to find that there is a
universal self which is our real self. If we realize our universality and
infinity, there will be no duality, no fear, no tension and no unpeace. So our
ego has to be expanded by the discovery or knowledge that we are really
infinite.
Global
Religion : Demand of the Time.
All men
are equal in the sense that they have the same divine destiny. This view
furnished the most inspiring motive for intellectual co-operation and
inter-religious understanding so necessary for realising the ideal of the
federation of the world. Universal brotherhood should be the foundation of our
politics during time to come. But this brotherhood should be the foundation of
our politics during times to come. But this brotherhood should and could repose
only upon a spiritual basis. Proper analysis of the philosophy of religion
would contribute greatly to the bringing together of all creeds and faiths and
races. Hindus and Muslims, Nazis and Jews, Communists and Fascists could never
be reconciled by any political or moral theory. It is only when humanity comes
to recognize the one Spiritual Principle which underlies all things that we can
bring about harmony between different creeds, nations and races. It is not by
an appeal to the dogmas of the different faiths that we can bring together the
warring sects. It is only by bringing them to a common consciousness of
spiritual life that we can realize the end which are striving for.
It is
because of our short sightedness that there are several religions. While it is
the fact that all of them are propounding the same reality in a different way.
So if it can be proved that human being is a cosmic being and that is why, He
is need of universal religion, we shall be able to establish peace and harmony
in the world, which the aim of U.N.O.
Wars will be ceased, hostility among people will be turned into
hospitality and citizens of each and every nation will be feeling as if member
of the same family and whole world will be converted into a family and we shall
be able to establish a global family and global region. So there would not the
any problem of conversion because there will only one religion.
So to
reach this to this purpose, first of all I would like to discuss biological,
physiological and neurophysiological aspect of our body that is physical body.
Then I shall deal with the subtle body. Then I shall discuss the casual body. After
that I shall concentrate my study on the soul. Here I shall describe the
mystery of the knowledge received through extra-sensory perceptions. I shall
take the general survey of the recent discoveries in modern physics, biology
and neurology and try to explain, how they prove that spirit is the only
reality. Then I shall try to reconcile the scientific view with the
philosophical view. After that I shall take the general survey of all religions
and try to find out their common
factors. Finding these common factors of all religions I shall try to prove
that how, all these disciplines, whether it is science or philosophy or
religion, try to prove the same Reality, though in their way of description,
they differ with each other. After this I shall try to propound the concept of
global religion- its possibility and perspective, which is the essence of the
policy of secularism of both Indian and American government. All these factors
will prove the reason of the policy of secularism.
Let us
all pull down the banner of ego and attain peace. Let us accept the variety of
spiritual methods and not quarrel about them, as all quarrel is due to ego. Let
not be ego dominate us; let us dominate the ego by following the common
spiritual method. The best way of refraining the soul power of religion is to
keep alive its synthetic outlook by removing the barriers of isolation and
exclusiveness. It is only philosophy applied to practical life that can really
bring man together and make them live a new spiritual joint- family-life.
Various sections of philosophy should come in a common understanding without
giving up their essential features. Science and philosophy which has been at
arm’s length so long owing to mutual distrust, are now anxious to appreciate
each others stand point and find out their common features. The dominant
interest in contemporary philosophy is the integration of scientific knowledge
with the totality of experience.
Let’s
try to propound a religion which is for all cast, creed, sect and citizens. The
aim of this religion will be the purification and upliftment of human being to
the highest level of consciousness, which is the essence of all religions. As
religion is concerned with the human being in general, not with the citizens of
this or that country, so there must be human religion or world religion.
